The Use of EdPuzzle in the Classroom

My cooperating teacher would always assign EdPuzzles to her class during introduction lessons. I loved the idea, but never got the chance to play with the program and make one for myself. So for this assignment, I decided to do an EdPuzzle on the American Revolution using a crash course video. Creating the EdPuzzle video was very easy, but finding out how to share it has been a real difficult task for me. Hopefully the link below will take you to the video:

I love EdPuzzle because it allows students to work at their own pace and re-watch videos to get key information they may have missed if they were watching it in a group setting. The EdPuzzle website has the option to make your video public and there are a ton of already made videos on the website for educators who may be stuck on what to ask their students. I watched a few to get inspiration and I found it really helpful, so hopefully other educators will use the video I made to create their own or even show their own class.

  1. Hi Caleigh – i used Edpuzzle as well. Creating the video was easy after watching a brief tutorial. I had difficulty trying to post as well. When I tried to embed the link on the blogpage, it said to leave the URL when I literally copied the link and pasted it into the page. A friend suggested creating a hyperlink – which seemed to work except when Dr. Gaston tried it. I’m frustrated because I really like what Edpuzzle offers students.

  2. I have only briefly experimented with EdPuzzle, but after seeing your assessment and some other students’ assessments, I want to check it out and explore even further! John Green is the best, and I LOVE his crash course videos. I’ve used them with my students before several times, but I love the idea of making video viewing more interactive by having the questions to go along with it.

  3. Hello!

Thanks for introducing me to how Edpuzzle works. I’ve always thought that videos can be a good tool to use for learning, but often students will goof off or skip to the points where the answers are, or simply not pay attention. You’ve made a good presentation that shows how it can be used, as well as assess students mid class! And these can be given as home assignments so that students can be trusted to watch the videos properly on their own time.
